Department of General Services unveils new Computerized Maintenance Management System

The Maryland Department of General Services unveiled a new tool to track and manage workflow with the grand opening of the new Computerized Maintenance Support Center.

The new system is a cloud-based, comprehensive work request and work order management tool, the department said in a statement. It also incorporates data-driven strategies with the hope of extending the life of project assets. 

The center is meant to manage the ongoing maintenance of Maryland's 6.3 million square feet of office space as efficiently as possible, DGS Secretary Ellington Churchill Jr. said in a statement. The center will receive calls from Baltimore, Annapolis, and MultiService Center Divisions. 

"The CMMS is used to schedule and plan service and maintenance, manage work orders and work request, keep historical asset records, track maintenance expenditures over the lifecycle of an asset, control parts inventory, manage workflows, support condition monitoring, use predictive maintenance, and create custom reports for management to make data-driven decisions," DGS statement said.
