Stanley Black and Decker are bringing hundreds of new jobs to Baltimore County.
On Tuesday the company announced its plan for an expansion sight at the Greenleigh at Crossroads.
Will Anderson, the Baltimore County Department of Economic Workforce and Development said winning this business will show other businesses that Baltimore County is a good place for them to set up shop too.
"We're going to draw people in to come for these jobs,” said Anderson. : We also want workforce development in this agency so we're working with people to connect to these jobs who live right here in the county.”
In a press release from Stanley and Decker, the company said the $8.4 million office space will hire positions in electrical and electromechanical engineering, digital and brand marketing, industrial design, finance, and human resources.
"These 400 jobs are a great mix for our strengths,” said Anderson. “You have creatives, financiers, engineers back office folks. It's one of the reasons they picked us they need an innovative workforce and they found it here."
The average salary will be around $60,000.
The company already employs around 2,300 people in Baltimore County, and the hope is that the influx of workers will have a trickledown effect on the economy.
"I live on the west side in Catonsville and I have Stanley Black and Decker neighbors,” said Anderson. “I see it all throughout the region this big has positive impacts where they're buying homes improving communities. We get supply chains coming in. There's a lot of little innovation spaces around that ecosystem that they're building up so there's a multiplier that's really huge beyond just the 400 jobs and $8.5 million they're spending there."
Stanley Black and Decker started in Baltimore County in Towson in 1910.
