Joshua Hamer's legacy lives on with ' Homers for Hamer.'

The 2nd annual tournament at John Carroll  High School honors Hamer, a sophomore and baseball stand-out who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident last year.

His teammates and best friends came together to create a scholarship fund to honor their friend and help other young baseball players interested in attending John Carroll.

More than 100 people participated in the two-day home run derby put on by seniors, Hunter Tipton, Brandon Crews, and Stelio Stakios.

Head Varsity Baseball Coach Darrion Siler was also at the event, which he said was very important for the community:

"I think it's important that we as a community come together and use this opportunity to continue Josh's legacy that we keep telling stories, that we continue to speak about him and that we talk about the opportunities that through Josh we're able to give young men that want to play baseball and continue their education here through John Carroll and be apart of the baseball program as well."

So far the Joshua Hamer Memorial Tournament has given out three $8,000 scholarships.
