A District Heights woman was charged by the Maryland State Police for supposedly driving under the influence before crashing in Prince George’s County.

At around 10:40 p.m., on Wednesday, a trooper observed a Chevrolet Tahoe driving at 62 mph in a 35-mph zone on Pennsy Drive and 75th Avenue in Landover, Md. The trooper tried to stop the car, but the driver refused to stop. The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Miteka Trueheart, continued to travel on Pennsy Drive until she crashed into an embankment around Pennsy Drive and Landover Road.

Trueheart was cited with driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, speeding, failure to drive a vehicle on the right half of the roadway, failing to stop at a stop sign and reckless driving. She was transported to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center to be treated for the injuries that she sustained in the crash.

No one else was injured and no other vehicles were involved in this incident.

This investigation is ongoing.
